We had lunch in a rotating restaurant on top of Macau tower, overlooking the city and eating super fancy food. There were 3 Study Abroad kids including me, and like, 40 Rising Star kids, so it was kind of an ordeal. Saturday, I went to Macau for all of two hours. I made a 3 page comic for Hong Kong Comics! They were delicious, and even more delicious because they were free. When I got back to SCAD on Friday, there was a big celebratory thing for the end of Summer Seminar, and I got a free popsicle and stuffed Beijing-style crepe. There’s a lot of really interesting stuff, including life-size replicas of shops and houses from various points of Hong Kong history. In Travel Portfolio, the theme for week 3 is Night, so here’s some of the stuff I did for that so far.įriday, we had a field trip to the History museum, but the bus from Gold Coast to SCAD was late so I didn’t see my professor there. They’re all so nice and fun to be around. Afterwards, I got dinner and hung out with one of the girls in my class and two of the people who aren’t technically in my class but just kinda hang around for fun. Thursday, instead of Comics class, we went to see Spiderman: Homecoming with the Rising Star and Summer Seminar kids. I brought my sketchbook and did some more sketching. We ordered a pizza this time, and I danced more. Then, Wednesday night I went swing dancing with my roommate and another study abroad girl again. So, let’s see…Last monday I finished up my architectural vantage points final piece. I was totally going to post this on Sunday but I blanked and forgot. Posted in art school life, study abroad Hong Kong Week 3 It’s surreal, I still can’t really believe it. I miss geeking out over homestuck with people I’ve known for half my life. I’m very excited about it because it’s a thing that will definitely appeal to my friends from high school, unlike volleyball anime and figure skating anime, which appeals more to my art school friends. The art style was too similar to Understanding Comics, though, and it threw me off a little.Īlso read 17776 which I really like, it’s like homestuck but short and self-contained and SATISFYING. I’ve sent links to all my friends. Also read Filmish, a graphic nonfiction work explaining film theory and criticism, which was really interesting and brought several movies to my attention that I hadn’t heard of before but want to watch now. Reading list: read Seconds by Bryan Lee O’Malley, which was interesting, but not my favorite thing by him. What else? Here’s a sketchbook page for travel drawing. ![]() I finally finished my 100 literary characters! check #100literarycharacters on instagram for the full array. We also hit up the antiques street, which was so cool I love antiques. We had a very nice lunch at a very cute cafe and saw some very cool things. Very fun, despite some rain that happened.Īnd then today, I met up with Ingrid again to go to PMQ and wander around a bit. And then we got milk pudding for dessert and wandered around the Causeway Bay area. ![]() ![]() But then I got to drown my sorrows in Ten Ren bubble tea which is supposed to be The Best so it was fine really.Īfter that me and my roommate met up with a swing dancing friend for cheap and delicious seafood! It was extremely delicious. I probably paid too much money for the things I obtained. ![]() Saturday I went to Mong Kok to buy some souvenirs for my family. Then my roommate and I watched some SCAD kids lose at soccer to a bunch of old men, and wandered around the Dragon Center until it was time to leave for swing dancing.įriday night was my last Friday night swing dancing, but it was fun and I had a good time. I can’t believe these are free to visit here, in the states a place like that would’ve been like $30 USD to enter at least. Then Friday, we went to the botanical/zoological gardens for drawing of nature things.
